My name is U, which is short for "UKUTAYOU".

I was born in Ukraine, by the side of a blue lake. My mother told me that there was an exceptionally beautiful meteor shower on the night of my birth. Since I was young, my father taught me that the purpose of fireflies is to guide people with their light.

That's why I strived to study harder than anyone else, so I could shine brightly.

However, fate had other plans for me.

One night, I went to sleep like any other, but I woke up in a dark, damp cave with a black eagle in front of me.

I had heard frightening tales about eagles that supposedly steal fireflies to bask in their light and use their abilities for war, but I thought it was just a myth.

I was mistaken...

Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months, it felt like an eternity had passed while I was captive. At first, I cried frequently, but then I stopped altogether. I think I eventually lost all emotions. That was until my light faded.

Unexpectedly, it was the loss of my light that gave me the strength to fight and eventually break free. The darkness became my ally, as I became invisible within it.

So, I made my way back home.

However, that was not the end of my story. Now that my bright light was gone, what was my purpose?

People treated me differently, as if I were no longer the same person.

I was left questioning the meaning of my life.
